Jack Hayes is an experienced radio broadcaster and a core member of the Dare to Dream programme, whose journey from a challenging upbringing to a successful media career makes him a powerful and relatable voice for young people.

Growing up in South London, Jack faced significant challenges in his early life. He experienced bullying at school, frequent moves, and periods of instability at home, all of which impacted his confidence and sense of direction. Like many young people, he struggled at times to see what his future could look like. These experiences now sit at the heart of his work, giving him a genuine understanding of the barriers some students face.

Determined to create a different path for himself, Jack found his way into radio, starting at Southern FM in 2004. From these early beginnings, he worked his way up through the industry, building his skills, confidence, and on-air presence.

He went on to spend 15 years at Heart FM, becoming a well-known voice across Sussex as part of a popular breakfast show. During this time, he developed the ability to connect with audiences at scale, communicating with clarity, humour, and authenticity in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Jack now presents a Friday morning show on More Radio, while dedicating his full-time role to creating and delivering the Dare to Dream programme and inspiring the next generation.

His journey is a powerful example of how confidence, resilience, and saying “yes” to opportunities can change the direction of your life. From a young person who doubted himself to a broadcaster speaking to thousands, and now to students across the region, Jack embodies the message that your starting point does not define your future.

He brings energy, honesty, and a fresh perspective, helping young people understand that success isn’t about having everything planned — it’s about taking action and building belief over time.
