Dare to Dream 2021/22 team up with Focus Group to inspire the next generation

Dare to Dream is an inspirational programme challenging young people to change the way they think. Working in partnership with leading organisations from the private, public and voluntary sectors, the Love Local Jobs Foundation will be supporting local schools and giving young people the confidence they need to fulfil their potential.

Delivered around core themes of self-awareness, mindset, gratitude, resilience, teamwork and employability the inspirational speaker and business mentors use their own experiences and extensive knowledge to drive and motivate young people.

Focus Group, a successful Shoreham-based business established in 2003 by local entrepreneurs Chris Goodman and Ralph Gilbert, is now one of the UK’s leading providers of essential business technology and employs over 600 people. Its ethos revolves around a firm belief that people are at the heart of a successful business so is committed to creating opportunities for its teams and building relationships in the local community.

Programme Lead, Jack the Lad, the well-known former host of the Breakfast Show on Heart FM, who is now on air with More Radio, will be presenting his own personal journey, as well as listening to and understanding the incredible stories from the local next generation and future workforce.

Focus Group will be supporting Shoreham Academy and helping to enable an entire cohort of year 10 students to Dare to Dream. Alongside Jack’s personal narrative and inspirational deliveries, volunteers from Focus Group will mentor 15 students who are currently disengaged but believed to have great potential. Participating as mentors on the programme the volunteers will help to promote and reinforce core themes that are central to wellbeing, employability and a positive future.

Chris Goodman, Co-Founder & Director at Focus Group said: “It’s been a challenging year for young people, with ongoing disruption to education, training and personal development experiences. So now - more than ever - they need motivation, support and inspiration to build the confidence they need to move into further education, training opportunities and career pathways. We’re delighted to be partnering with Dare to Dream, to give young people in our local community invaluable insight into developing the skills, qualifications and, above all, the positive attitude needed to open up a world of future career opportunities.”

The programme, which is intended to support as many schools, colleges and youth groups as possible this year and culminates in an engaging and interactive workplace tour prior to the summer holidays. Alongside the inspirational deliveries from Jack the Lad, interactive workshops and one to one mentoring supported by leading employers such as Focus Group, it is the intention of the Love Local Jobs Foundation to give a much-needed boost of inspiration and self-belief to as many young people as possible in 2021/22.
