Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust support year 9 students to Dare to Dream

Dare to Dream is an inspirational programme challenging young people to change the way they think. Working in partnership with leading organisations from the private, public and voluntary sectors, the Love Local Jobs Foundation will be supporting local schools and giving young people the confidence they need to fulfil their potential.

Delivered around core themes of self-awareness, mindset, gratitude, resilience, teamwork and employability the inspirational speaker and business mentors use their own experiences and extensive knowledge to drive and motivate young people.

Programme Lead, Jack the Lad, the well-known former host of the Breakfast Show on Heart FM, who is now on air with More Radio, will be presenting his own personal journey, as well as listening to and understanding the incredible stories from the local next generation and future workforce.

The Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust will be supporting Thomas Bennett Community College in Crawley and Kings School in Hove, helping to enable two entire year 9 cohorts to Dare to Dream totalling 350 students in all. Alongside Jack’s personal narrative and inspirational deliveries, volunteers from The Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust will mentor 30 students who are currently disengaged but believed to have great potential. Participating as mentors on the programme the volunteers will help to promote and reinforce core themes that are central to wellbeing, employability and a positive future.

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust employs 6000 people in Sussex and the surrounding areas, caring for people in their own homes as well as working out of community hospitals, health centres and doctors surgeries. Services include those for every stage of life from health visitors for babies to end of life care.

Working with Dare to Dream is important for the Trust to make connections with our communities and share what we do, it isn’t easy, but it is greatly rewarding and this mirrors what Jack’s inspirational speeches are all about and the values we hold. Our staff who have been involved in the programme have found it hugely rewarding, and it allows reflection and learning from all our different journeys for all participants.
